This “about me” page used to say something different, something more glib, but the truth is, I like to write. I want to write. And it terrifies helps to have an audience, however disembodied, so I publish my writing here.
I began this blog without a coherent idea of what it would be “about.” I find it odd: the idea that one’s blog, one’s “brand,” must be about only one thing (or that one must have a personal brand at all). Let’s say I find it bewildering. But then, a lot of things about the world are bewildering, including the Kardashians (what made them celebrities in the first place?) and the housing crisis (how is it that those responsible are also those who have most profited?), but also including giant squid (if they’re so giant, why has it been so hard to videotape them?). So, I might write one day about a Communist sculpture park and the next about invasive jellyfish. So what?
Right now, I’m a PhD student in Cultural Studies. I hope one day to find some kind of employment that works with, rather than against, this credential. If you’d like to mock me for my life choices hire me, please be in touch.

I just saw you at the Toronto Island airport. I am also a blogger… but focus on economics. I think if I still lived in Canada I would not be as concerned about such things. But the USA is a crazy place. And as long as I live there, I will have to do what I can to address the injustice of it all.
I look forward to reading more of your blog. I am now a subscriber.
Have a great trip.
